DI.S.C.O.P.M.B., is a 36-month European project funded by the Erasmus+ programme aims at making current and future social and health workers more aware of and competent in providing inclusive care practices, especially those targeting older persons from a migrant background and their informal caregivers.
HOW TO IMPROVE CARE PROVISION?
In order to ensure high quality care and good accessibility to care for all individuals and their families/informal carers, is fundamental to provide social and health services that keep pace with contemporary interculturalism and value diversity in all its manifestations are central.
WHAT DOES DI.S.C.O.P.M.B. PROJECT OFFER?
The project provides and supports in the acquisition of the necessary competences and skills to deliver diversity-sensitive care towards older adults with a migration background, valuing diversity and promoting inclusive care practices for families and patients of all ages and cultural backgrounds. What is diversity-sensitive care and person-centred care approach?
Person-centred, culturally sensitive care refers to healthcare practices that prioritize the autonomy and integrity of patients. It entails healthcare providers contributing their knowledge and strength to foster an understanding of the care being offered, as this also demonstrates respect for the autonomy of others.
WHAT IS THE DI.S.C.O.P.M.B. TRAINING CURRICULUM?
The training curriculum consists of approximately 30-40 hours of learning divided into 4 modules:
1. Care and diversity
2. Long-term care in the context of migration
3. Awareness and stereotypes and prejudices
4.Diversity-sensitive competences enriched and complemented with practical and reflective exercises, case studies, narratives of the life stories and experiences.
