The transnational meeting held in Vienna on 19th and 20th September was an important moment of discussion and progress in our project, highlighting significant progress in several key areas. The partners met for the third time since the start of the project, an ideal opportunity to take stock of the situation for the last year of the project.
During the meeting, future thematic webinars were discussed, which will cover various insights into the topic of the person-centred and diversity-sensitive approach and will be held from October 2024 to March 2025. We also discussed the collection of data for policy briefs, which are essential to guide future policies, and the planning of a European event planned for May 2025, aimed at sharing the results and best practices that emerged.
The third year of the project saw the development of an innovative training programme, which is currently being disseminated. The Open Educational Resource (OER) is also being finalised, with the aim of making content accessible in different languages (English, Swedish, Italian, Finnish, German and Dutch).
WHAT DOES THE DISCOP OER COURSE OFFER?
The online course will focus on person-centred and diversity-sensitive care with a special focus on older people with a migration background and their families. Complementing the previous training, Open Educational Resources (OER) will be easily accessible online, facilitating learning and knowledge sharing. This approach aims to foster a wider and more global dissemination of the project.
The resource is divided into four training modules:
Module 1 – How to provide diversity-sensitive care
Module 2 – Migration background and impact on care
Module 3 – How to facilitate access to care
Module 4 – Relevant and helpful approaches
The course employs an innovative and interactive methodology, integrating theoretical concepts with storytelling-based video narratives that illustrate the experiences of older people with a migration background and their families. This approach ensures an engaging and stimulating learning process. In addition, the study materials, which include texts, audio, videos, and interactive quizzes, are designed to test the knowledge acquired and to encourage personal reflection and professional development.
During this autumn 2024, the OER course will be tested, involving educators from the VET system, university professors in social and health care, students, and professionals working in both health and social care sectors, as well as in the field of migration.
We look forward to the next steps with enthusiasm, convinced that the collaboration between the partners will continue to produce positive results.
